Annabel Lewis, founder of the specialist ribbon business, V V Rouleaux, has transformed her fathers 1950’s caravan, which until recently stored pheasant food, into a flamboyant home on wheels. Silks, velvets and organdie have been used to cover surfaces, from walls and seats to cupboard interiors and shelves. Ribbons and braids, from simple leather to mad bobble and sequin tassels trim window and furniture edges, and, silk flowers once intended for Ascot hats are bunched in corners. Whether crossing Lambeth bridge, taking the children to the coast or serving champagne cocktails at charity events this is a caravan that certainly courses a stir. Due to the fantastic reaction, caravan interior decorating is an area Annabel is now keen to develop. But those hoping for a Kelly Hoppen taupe interior should not enquire. Living doesn’t come more flamboyant than this!
