Christmas is a time when most people want to be at home, but if you live abroad you can successfully recreate your seasonal traditions. All the family traditions were enjoyed in their spacious and attractive Edwardian house. The boys left their boots outside the house on the December 5th (to be filled with chocolate and goodies from Sankt Nikolaus), through the four weeks of Advent a traditional table wreath was added to, and German Christmas biscuits were baked in an English Aga. Christmas Eve dinner and presents are enjoyed around the large tree ablaze with real candles – the tradition first brought to the UK by Queen’s Victoria’s German consort, Prince Albert!
