The elegant East End of London square where interior designer Andrew Orr lives has been through cycles of boom and bust, from its heyday in the 1820s to its decline and near demolition.

In the 1990s the shabby and run down area underwent a revival and now, being within walking distance of some of them main venues for the 2012 Olympics Orr feels that his home turf is also benefiting from the overall regeneration programme being implemented in the area.

“We only recently realised that we were so close to the Olympic hub, maybe we’ll rent the house out to a team of synchronised swimmers or all-in wrestlers” says Orr with a smile. But before any Olympic hopefuls turn up on the door step Andrew, his partner and partner’s seven year old son Finlay are enjoying the fruits of their extensive and hands-on restoration and refurbishment.
