Everyone in the Hamwee family has a favourite part of their south London home. Five year old Honor loves her cupboard, the tall built in unit in the basement where she keeps her stash of Barbies, tiaras and jeweled flip flops. Seven year old Cosmo likes his cupboard too but admits it’s a ‘bomb site’, while nine year old Josh is delighted with his Chelsea themed bedroom which has only recently changed. “It was green and camouflage when I was going through my army phase but I’m a Chelsea supporter now” he says.

Their father, air pilot Mark has a study at the back of the ground floor, which is filled with papers, guitars and books, “It’s his space and we tend not to go in there” says his wife Nikki as she quickly closes the door. And Nikki highlights the basement room, which runs from the front to the back of the house, as her special space. “It is really where we live and the room that makes it easier for me to run a busy family and my business”. Her company is the summer fashion and accessories company Star Mela, which she founded three years ago with business partner Amanda Winship.
