Jack and Katie decided it was time to leave their Kensington apartment and look for a family house. With their four year old girl and baby on the way, they were wanting more space. They found a Queen Anne house on the banks of the Thames. Jack recalls going to view it on a glorious sunny day and the magical light on the river was reflecting through the windows. He knew the level of commitment it would take to transform the house into a family home but he’d fallen in love.
The location is indisputably idyllic. The garden runs down to the Thames and views up and down river take in the wooded bank opposite with scarcely another building in sight.
The house had immense charm but the interior was a throwback to the 1980s. The transformation of the house has taken two years. At first Jack and Katie feared they would miss city buzz but now advocate the benefits of life on the edge of town. “This house has changed my family’s life for the better,” Jack declares. “I wake up every morning to the sound of geese and ducks outside the bedroom window instead of the number 27 bus that used to wake us up!
