An ability to mix and match, coupled with an eclectic mix of charming finds has given Mary-Anne Staddon's Kent cottage star quality.
Mary recalls that the moment she walked through the door of her 16th century weatherboard cottage, she knew it would be the perfect place to put down roots.
'The irony was not lost on me, because it once features in the TV series, The Darling Buds of May, in which Pa Larkin regularly declared things 'perfick',' she laughs.
Born and bred in rural Kent, Mary-Anne had no intention of moving too far from her roots in any case, but as it turned out the former bakery - which still has its name on the weatherboard frontage - was not entirely unfamiliar to her. 'Funnily enough, years before I'd had a friend who loved here, so I'd often visited and thought how charming and unique it was... I never dreamed though that one day it would be mine.'
