Kate's passion for all things vintage meant it was inevitable that she would choose a period property. A seaside chalet dating from the 1940's, she actually bought the house from its original owner who had lived there for over sixty years. 'It was in quite basic condition but fortunately had retained many of the original features including wood panelling, fireplaces, parquet flooring and crickle windows leading into the retro sun room.'

Kate decided to make some radical changes to the layout of the accommodation, knocking through the wall between the kitchen and dining room to let in more light and create an open-plan dining space. A new kitchen was installed and the heating and wiring were upgraded throughout the house. Upstairs the rooms were reconfigured to fit in a bathroom and finally a summerhouse was built in a sunny corner of the garden.
