Living in a London terrace house with four small children, Aliya and Ajit Nedungadi found their life at weekends increasingly exhausting. ' Ferrying four children to different activities and events meant we hardly ever enjoyed proper family time together. We felt the time had come to buy a house to escape to for weekends and holidays.'
Aliya's initial decision to buy a country house with land in the middle of nowhere was soon replaced with a new vision. 'I read an article in the Financial Times about The Water Park in Gloucestershire which is an area about the size of Jersey, larger than the Norfolk Broads, and built as a gated community around a series of lakes, created out of disused gravel pits surrounded by beautiful countryside. The advantages for the children were obvious, having friends living nearby, being bale to bike, swim, play tennis and sail, all in total safety. It sounded brilliant.'
