JST050: Atalanta Keirle
This magnificent barn dating from 1736 is among several farm buildings converted around 2000 on one of Earl Spencer’s estates. Atalanta is the great-granddaughter of Arthur Lazenby Liberty who founded the London store. She and her husband Jules had previously rented a converted barn and that experience instilled a love of great light-filled spaces. It was this combination they fell in love with here and it inspired their refurbishment. The vast double height ground floor living space finds the kitchen opening into the dining area and sitting room, and there is also a drawing room upstairs, much used in the evenings and warmed by a stove in the double height chimney. This is indeed a home that delivers scale, space and light in abundance.
